
Sisi Receives Haftar in Egypt, Affirms Support for Libya’s Unity
EGYPT — Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Libyan National Army Commander Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar and his accompanying delegation for official talks, according to the Egyptian presidency spokesperson.
Haftar was accompanied by Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan National Army, General Khaled Haftar, and the Director General of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Eng. Belgasim Haftar. From the Egyptian side, the meeting was attended by Director of the General Intelligence Service, Hassan Rashad.
Spokesman for the Presidency Mohamed El-Shennawy said President El-Sisi welcomed the visit, underscoring the deep fraternal ties between Egypt and Libya. Haftar, for his part, affirmed his support for efforts to achieve security and stability in Libya and preserve its unity, stressing his keenness to continue coordination with Egypt.
