New High-Tech Gateway Nears Completion at Sirte’s Eastern Entrance

SIRTE — Work on the Eastern Electronic Gateway, the new eastern entrance to Sirte, is 80% done.

The gateway sits on the international highway and will be fitted with modern, high-tech security screening systems to check vehicles and travellers entering the city. When it opens, it will also include a mosque, a café, restrooms, and security offices, along with other facilities for people passing through.

It is one of several projects going up around Sirte as the city rebuilds and expands.
